Russia

The Russian economy is growing at an exceptional rate.

Between 1998 and 2005, Russian Gross Domestic Product (GDP) expanded by an estimated 48 %. In the past 12 months Russian companies have raised $4bn in Initial Public Offerings on the London Stock Exchange, becoming the biggest source of international primary offerings in London.

The past few years have seen trade between Russia and the UK increase significantly, and this is expected to continue.

The UK was the largest foreign investor in Russia in 2003, with 15% of the total investment (US $4.6bn) coming from British sources.

Although Russia has suffered economic and social problems, it has the potential for substantial future growth and is a long term market of great potential for UK exporters and investors.

Currently we have no plans for an office in Russia, but continue to promote London as a place to visit, study and invest through our Moscow representative.
