GLA Group

The London Development Agency (LDA) is one of four 'functional bodies' accountable to the Mayor of London which form the Greater London Authority (GLA) Group.

The GLA Group includes:

  • Metropolitan Police Authority (MPA)
  • London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority (LFEPA)
  • Transport for London (TfL)
  • London Development Agency (LDA).

The Mayor sets the budgets for the GLA Group and leads the preparation of eight statutory strategies including Spatial Development, Economic Development, Environment and Transport.

The activities of the Mayor and his functional bodies are scrutinised by the London Assembly, which consists of a group of 25 elected members. The Assembly performs its scrutiny role though its various committees.

The Mayor and the GLA Group, including the LDA, are required to have regard to the achievement of health, equality of opportunity and sustainable development in all GLA activities under the Greater London Authority Act.
