East London Tourism Development Strategy and Action Plan 2004-2006

The completed strategy and action plan for East London aims to support the growth of the east London tourism industry and ensure that the area is firmly on the visitor map. The strategy was launched on 28th September 2004. The plan will make the most of east London’s diverse attractions and communities, its rich culture and history and its vibrant new businesses.

The plan is an innovative joint venture between the LDA, TourEast London and Visit London and has been completed with input from all key stakeholders. The plan covers the London Boroughs of Barking and Dagenham, Bexley, Greenwich, Hackney, Havering, Lewisham, Newham, Redbridge and Tower Hamlets, plus the Corporation of the City of London.

The plan has a number of priority actions including research to quantify the benefits of tourism to each borough, specific research into the views of visitors to the area, target markets and product clusters in order that the area can be marketed more effectively in the future.
