Albert Basin

Albert Basin

The London Development Agency-owned Albert Basin sites sit at the eastern end of the Royal Docks, adjacent to Gallions Reach Docklands Light Railway station.

The mixed-use sites have been fully remediated from brownfield land, and there has been investment in new road and public realm infrastructure, such as the new Atlantis Avenue. There are new homes already built on the waterfront at Royal Quay and more planned across the Albert Basin sites.

A number of industrial developments accommodating businesses relocated as a result of the London 2012 Games have now been completed and are occupied.

One of the sites with the Albert Basin will be contributed to the London Wide Initiative run by the Homes and Communities Agency - a low cost home ownership scheme for key workers living and working in the capital.

Albert Dock Basin-01  Working with stakeholders the London Development Agency (LDA) has prepared a masterplan for the Albert Basin which envisages over 1,000 new homes, of which a large proportion will be affordable. The LDA will be looking for selection of developers to deliver the next phases of developments in the near future.

The Albert Basin will be home to the LDA's first zero carbon development at Gallions Park. The proposal is based on:

  • Using the building specifications to cut carbon emissions by 40 percent over and above 2006 regulations
  • Using Combined Heat and Power (CHP) to provide a net zero-carbon energy supply
